Dancing Skirt

Hello, lovely readers! I (Emily) have some absolutely lovely pictures (and news) for you! I'll show you the pictures first, because the news has to deal with what's in them. :-)

I went out with Penny this afternoon at Mama Hen's request, because she wanted me to try out a skirt she sewed today. She used the Twirls For Girls pattern over at I just love the way it drapes while I'm riding!

(And yes, I'm still wearing the AG Place shirt from Easter pictures, but it went really well with the skirt.)

I felt like a princess riding in this skirt! It draped over Penny just like a mediaeval gown.

Mama Hen used some old bandannas (did I spell that right?) to add a bit of red.

She also used a sweet lion and giraffe print.

The skirt is perfect for a warm summer day! It's made of cotton, so I can stay cool in the heat.

The best part about this skirt is that you can dance in it!

Some of the patterns remind me of bokeh. :-)

It has such a nice twirl to it!

I had so much fun dancing in it! I was twirling and whirling all around the backyard!

Mama Hen said it reminded her of the handmade dresses she got at a bluegrass music festival in New York.

There are many gathers and ruffles on this skirt, but believe it or not, it wasn't that hard to make!

It's pretty whatever way you turn it.

Mama Hen is practicing taking pictures in front of a white background...

The bottom ruffle is adorable!

Alright, here's the news. I'll let Mama Hen take over from here! Cheerio!

Hi everyone! It's getting closer and closer to our One Year Blogoversary, so I decided to do something special. And it's not just a giveaway or a contest.

...Drumroll please...

I'm opening an Etsy shop!

It's nowhere near ready to actually open, but I'll have everything figured out in time for the Blogoversary (May 6th, by the way). I'm planning on selling skirts like the one Emma is wearing above, and a good many other things. Just bear with me as I get everything sorted out, and check back soon for more updates!

{Snapshots} Walk With Pepper

Good afternoon, Emma here! We've just had a petition to put a name to the photo snippets you're getting now. As you can see, we're calling them "Snapshots". Quite fitting, isn't it?

Yesterday was beautiful and balmy, so I took Pepper out for a walk in the afternoon.

MagNioBio Award {Twice!!}

A bazillion thanks to both Lydia of American Girls and Books and Christian Homeschooler of Treasured Friendships With a Flair for nominating me for the MagNeoBio award!

Since I got tagged twice, I'll answer both sets of questions separately. For the sake of sanity, I'm only going to write 10 new questions and tag one "set" of people for this tag. That makes it easier on both me and you. :-)

Let's get started!

Christian Homeschooler's Questions:

1. Besides American Girl dolls, what doll brands are your favorites?

I love the A Girl for All Time dolls, and hope to get one someday! I'm also interested in the new My Twinn 18 inch dolls, they look neat. There is another cool doll brand called PenPal Girls, with dolls from different countries. My favorite is Emma, from the UK!

2. What do you think of A Life of Faith dolls?

I don't have any, but they seem really pretty! I dean across a few of the books at a used bookstore one time, but I didn't realize what they were until recently.

3. Which of the original Historical Characters (Molly, Kirsten, and Samantha) do you like best?

My favorite is Kirsten. When I was younger, I was obsessed with the pioneer days. I still have my two "Little House" dresses (now outgrown) in the back of my closet. I read of of Laura Ingalls' books and watched almost all of the movie adaptations.

4. What do you think is the best blogging tip?

There are so many out there, and I'm certainly not an expert! The best I can come up with is to just be yourself! Find what makes your blog unique, and use it! Maybe you take amazing photos, or you create cute doll food. Whatever you do, be proud about it. Everyone's blog is special and amazing in it's own way.

5. What do you like to read about the most on other girl’s doll blogs (for example, photo-stories, crafts, photo-shoots, reviews)?

Crafts and photo-stories are my favorites. Both are my weak spots, and I enjoy looking at some of the amazing things other girls (and women) are doing!

6. What is your favorite Girl of the Year doll?

This is tough! I love Lanie and adore Saige, both for their own reasons. Can I leave it at two? If I had to pick between the two, I'd pick Saige, just because of her beautiful eyes!

7. Which Historical Character friend is your favorite?

I'd have to say Emily. She's British, for one thing, and I'm an avid anglophile (British-lover). Her short red hair is pretty too! Nellie is a close runner up though, her bobbed hair and freckles are way too cute.

8. Do you ever look on eBay for good deals on American Girl items?

Yes! I haven't bought anything off eBay yet, but I browse sometimes and make wish lists of what I'd get if I could.

9. What do you think about highlights for dolls’ hair?

They add character, especially for modern girls. Sometimes all a doll needs is a blue or pink highlight and she's perfect! Surprisingly, I don't like Isabelle's highlights as much. The shade of pink AG chose is for me. :-\

 10. Of the dolls you have, which is your favorite(if you have one)?

Honestly, I don't have a favorite. All of them are equal in my eyes!

Lydia's Questions:

1. Have you ever Eaten Dog or Cat Food?
No, thank goodness! I almost ate dog food once, because I though the bacon treats were real bacon, but my mom stopped me before I put them in my mouth.

2. What is your Favorite Drink?
Water, probably, though I do enjoy hot chocolate and an occasional decaf mocha.

3. Do you do InnerstarU? If so are there any updates you want on it? (I know I want a lot of MAJOR updates on it.)
No, I don't do InnerstarU, because I don't have a MyAG doll. I'd love it if AG sold the codes separately though, so that I wouldn't have to buy an entire doll...

4. What is your favorite doll out of ALL the american girl dolls EVER?
This changes a lot, but currently my favorite is Caroline. She's from the Regency era, loves sailing, and is blonde with amazing eyes!

5. Are you the 'mother' to your dolls or do you pretend the dolls live in a house by themselves?
I am most definitely the "mother" to my dolls, as evidenced by my nickname. :-)

6.  Do you play any sports?
I swim, horseback ride, and bike.

7. What is your favorite doll sized find? (Not from AG)
I found an ancient doll-sized violin at a huge secondhand store once! It looked really old, and was cheaper than the AG one! I didn't buy it, though, because I left my wallet at home that day.

8. What is the biggest thing you have from AG? (Besides dolls)
I have the curling set. This is my biggest thing because I don't (yet) own any AG furniture.

9. What is your favorite Computer Account?
Just my Blogger. :-) I use it the most.

10. What is the doll you want next? (It does not have to be AG)
Caroline, Saige, #23, #24, or Rebecca. I'm always changing my mind (which is the problem).

Nominated Blogs:

1. If you could get any one thing from AG, what would you get?
2. Would you ever open an Etsy shop for dolls?
3. Have you ever made stop motion videos?
4. Do your dolls have any pets?
5. Do you like sewing clothes or buying them?
6. Have you ever made any food for your dolls?
7. Do your dolls live in a house or on a shelf?
8. Do you like photo-shoots or photo-stories?
9. What would your next doll be?
10. Who was your first doll?

If you were nominated, be sure to comment with the link to your answers!

Be Kind To The Earth

Happy Earth Day, readers! Believe it or not, I didn't remember it was Earth Day until really late this afternoon, so I grabbed Emily as quick as I could and went out for a just-as-sun-is-setting photo shoot. Sorry for so few pictures, but the light was fading really fast and I didn't have too much time left. :-}

Doesn't she look beautiful?

Be kind to the Earth and she will be kind back!

Easter Pictures

Good evening everyone! Felicity here, with our Easter pictures!

Mama Hen insisted on dressing us up, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. ;-)

It's the first time since out first few posts that all of us have been is a group picture!

We had fun, even though we had to dress up and pose for almost an hour.

Have a lovely day!

Have A Happy Easter!

Hola, readers! Emma and I are currently on the road home, but we wish you a happy, yummy Easter! Mama Hen will try to take Easter pictures tomorrow, but for now, you'll just have to wait. ;-)

What kinds of candy/toys did you get this Easter? Did you go to church at all? If you didn't celebrate Easter, what did you do instead?

{Photo Dump} Kirsten's Prairie Photos

Good morning, everyone! It's Kirsten, back with some pictures. I was digging through some older photos of Mama Hen's, and found a few that she had taken of me in-between snowstorms. They don't really have a story with them, but if you think of one, feel free to post it in the comments!

As usual, Mama Hen likes to play around with different effects, especially on the "Vintique" app (we're not paid for mentioning it, by the way). Here are a few that I think look really neat...

^^ This one almost looks like it could have been taken in the pioneer days, doesn't it? Believe it or not, they had cameras back then! They were bulky and cumbersome to carry, so they were mainly used for portraits.

That's all for now!
